A train ride over to the town of Zaandam was on the schedule today to see the iconic windmills. Among the houses where residents live year round, there is the only working paint mill in the world, the Museum of the Dutch Clock, a shipyard, a wooden shoe factory where you can make your own custom clogs, the bakery museum, a replica of Albert Heijn's first grocery store, the cheese factory, and the Zaans Museum. We lucked out that many people go out of town for the month of August so it wasn’t as busy as it could have been. We had plenty of time to try out the playground, explore, and eat lots of chocolate! There was also no shortage of gorgeous blue skies and photo opportunities!
