Baby Brigade Goes to the Lake

When our annual Baby Brigade Lake Weekend was upon us, I decided to drive up a night early and spend the evening with my sweet friend Brittani. After a yummy sushi dinner at Rice, Brittani and I thought it would be a good idea to have a Karaoke Party before bed time! The more we drank, the better we sounded lol I won't embarrass us by posting videos but it was great!

The next morning, all the girls came to join the fun!

Lessons Learned

Lessons learned from fostering three puppies:
  • 3 is too many!
  • We need a fenced in yard to do bigger dogs
  • Puppies who want out will find any way to escape no matter how many fences you put up
  • Potty training three rambunctious puppies takes the patience of a saint
  • I am not a saint
  • I love fostering but I am in over my head!

I think I knew from day one that this was going to be too much for me to handle but after a few days of round the clock puppy herding I was burnt out! Thank goodness for the other people at AAU who helped me find additional fosters to take over some of the responsibility.

Arlie headed to new foster mama Rachel (who almost adopted her!)

Alber settles in as an only puppy. He doesn't seem to mind!

Puppy Central

Puppy Central was set up in the basement and the littles quickly settled in. I spent hours picking ticks off these babies and attempting to potty train them. Wow....talk about difficult. As soon as I would leash up one, another one was already peeing on the floor and by the time I got all three outside they were so tangled up they couldn't do their business. I quickly realized I was in over my head and even though these puppies were so, so much sweeter than our first foster, I knew I couldn't keep all three of them. I sent some emails and was able to find additional fosters for Arren and Arlie.

This name did not suit this sweet baby at all and we spent hours trying to think of something new to call him. From Alber to Dutch to Puppy Boy...nothing seemed to stick.

Fostering Times 3!

Around 11pm I got an urgent message about three little babies on death row. Through no fault of their own, this litter was next to be euthanized at the pound. I saw their sweet faces and couldn't say no! Lincoln thought I was insane but I knew I couldn't see this photo and not do something! They were covered from head to toe in ticks and needed some extra loving but I had to help them!

Wish we could have seen the parents of this litter!
Arlie had such unique markings compared to her siblings!

Alber was immediately the family favorite

Arren was the trouble maker of the bunch and we quickly realized she needed to be fostered away from her siblings. The pups were at a good age to separate them and after a few pretty vicious fights right off the bat, I sent an SOS out to Angels to see whether someone could help with this trio!

They love and fight like brother and sisters haha
