Nolan at 3 Months & Carter at 35 Months
Carter is going to be my second shooter :)
Can’t forget about my biggest bubs!! He is such a handsome little devil!
Three Months Old on 02/11/12
Not much has changed in the last four weeks with little man, which I guess is a good thing! It means we’re trucking right along and have settled into our new life as a family of four without too much trouble. I’d kill someone for some sleep right now but other than that things have been ok! Nolan loves to eat around the clock and still hasn’t figured out how to go long stretches at night. I guess being such a chunk means he gets hungry more often and he can be quite demanding at 2am. He loves, loves, loves his paci almost as much as Carter so that can sometimes buy me an extra hour or two if I catch him before he is fully awake and aware of how hungry he is.
This boy is teething up a storm and whether or not the teeth are actually going to show up soon, he is a drooly, crazy mess! Poor boy has a constant rash on his chest from being wet and I have started having him wear a bib all day to help. He will chew on anything and everything he can get near his mouth!
Nolan is still a pretty smiley guy but his moods change at the drop of a hat and he sure lets you know it! Literally within seconds he can go from the happiest boy in the world to an absolute devil. We are still battling reflux and tummy issues, as well as incredibly sensitive skin. I think he is pretty uncomfortable the majority of the day :/ I wonder if he is really itchy since he has eczema and we have yet to find something to treat it properly. Recently Cetaphil seems to have worked wonders and as long as I keep him completely slathered from head to toe his skin doesn’t dry out.
I love his beautiful blue eyes and the sweet noises he makes. This month brought Nolan’s very first laugh and he is so ticklish on his ribbies! I have to be careful though because too much tickling leads to projectile puking hahahaha occasionally it’s worth it to hear his infectious giggle.
It’s still amazing to me how seamlessly Nolan entered our family. Not to say that it’s been a cake walk, but not nearly as difficult as I had built it up in my mind to be. I am able to get both boys out of the house every single day to our various activities, run errands, go to the food store, meet up with friends, and generally go about our day just like before he was here. Things take a bit longer now and sometimes I loose my cool because I’m exhausted, but I think this month I’ve really got the hang of things.
The last weekend in January we met our good friends (and old roommates) Jack and Laura for a little getaway. We rented a cabin in the mountains to introduce baby Nolan to their son Jackson. They found the perfect spot for our families just a little outside Asheville, NC and we had an awesome four days playing games, catching up, and relaxing. The weather was pretty crazy with snow on and off and ridiculous winds so we didn’t spend much time outside but it was a great trip!
Our view of Old Fort, NC
Carter got to spend the weekend being spoiled by Hattie, Poppy, and Auntie Alex! We are so thankful they were willing to watch our sweet boy and keep him entertained while we were away!
Who wouldn’t want to kiss these two precious boys??
Nolan wasn’t thrilled to be at yet another photo shoot but I just couldn’t
help myself when my friend Brandy offered up her studio for VDay pics!
My Biggest Little
When my friend and fav photographer Lauren was holding Valentine’s Day mini sessions in her home, I knew I wanted to get some updated pictures of the family. With Nolan growing and changing SO fast it’s hard to keep up with documenting him like I did with Carter!! I know I promised not to use just my cell phone so this was one of my attempts at giving his future wife some baby pictures hahaha I love how they turned out and I’m so thankful we were able to have the entire family captured on camera again! My friend Trina made their adorable matching shirts. I feel so lucky to have such talented friends!
My Littlest Little
How did I get so lucky? xoxoox
My Little Family
Twice blessed and forever changed. We are so lucky.
“The love of a family is life's greatest blessing!”
The Baby Brigade was born when Carter was just five weeks old. I have been incredibly blessed to grow as a mother alongside this amazing group of women. When I found out I was pregnant last February, I’ll admit I was a bit sad because I was worried this next baby wouldn’t have any friends its own age like Carter had. Our first group of second time mommies had already started to deliver and the six little ones we were adding to the group would be months older than our newest addition. Not a huge deal when they’re all running around, but pretty significant when they are tiny and a few months can mean leaps and bounds in terms of development. Well, imagine my surprise when I announced my pregnancy and soon after four more mommies found out they would be delivering within days/weeks of me! It was such an awesome surprise and made me even more excited to welcome baby Nolan knowing that there was such a great support group already formed and he would have these little buddies forever!
Camp {12 weeks} and Nolan {10 weeks}
My friend Katie was due three days after me but baby Campbell decided to surprise all of us two weeks early! It was almost torture having to go past my due date (since Carter came early too) but we were so happy when Nolan finally entered the world and we could introduce the two of them.
These boys are sure to be best buddies and are anxiously awaiting
the other winter babies who are due to arrive any day now!
Hard to believe Nolan is two weeks younger (and started off nearly 5lbs heavier!!!)
Someone discovered their hands around the middle of January (9 weeks old) and he cannot get enough of them. If Nolan is awake, he is chewing on his little fingers or slobbering up a storm trying to figure out how to get them to his mouth. At his two month appointment the doctor was sure he was already teething. Carter got his first two chompers at four months old, so perhaps Nolan is on track to get his early too.
My two little pirates :)
