Nicholas is Two!

We celebrated Nicholas’s second birthday in a play group party at their house a few weeks ago. His actual birthday was on March 20th but after a busy weekend running the Atlanta Marathon, Krissy waited a few days to recover before hosting our crazy group! The weather was kind of “ehh” that day but it didn’t stop the little kids from playing outside and having lots of fun! Mama Krissy set up a fishing pool, a craft station, and lots of yummy food for us to snack on. C loved the fishing pole and magnetic fish and talked about that for days. We also hung his “Nemo” picture on the fridge as soon as we got home. Nicholas was Carter’s birthday pick and we got him a gift certificate for music class to use this summer. Hopefully we can coordinate and be in the same class together :) What a fun party!

Madeleine and the Goats

For Madeleine’s second birthday party we celebrated for a little bit at her house before our BB playgroup headed to a farm to feed the new baby goats! Her real birthday was on march 17th so most of us wore green in honor of the little St. Paddy’s baby! I was a little worried that C wouldn’t participate at the farm because well, he hates animals, but he had a great time and even allowed a baby goat to lick his hand. It was a pretty hot day so we didn’t last too long outside, but I’d say it was a great success and all the babies seemed to have a great time feeding the goats. Happy Second Birthday Madeleine!

Baby Dominic is an honorary member for the month of March. He is the son of a former coworker and I helped arrange for BB member Allison to watch him until he is old enough to go to day care.

A Special Birthday Dinner

For our birthday dinner, Carter and I chose Beni Hana! Oh all right, truth be told they sent me a gift certificate and it was the perfect opportunity to use it! Linc came home early and took us all to the restaurant. They were able to seat us right away and we ordered all our favorites from the menu. The chef put on a pretty good show for us and Carter ate everything on his plate! The food was so delicious and I could not have been more impressed with C’s behavior. He must have known it was a very special occasion! We finished the meal with a little bowl of ice cream and a few more pictures :) I highly recommend signing up for Beni Hana's birthday club. My whole meal was free which made it taste even better hehehe

Two Year Checkup

021

Untitled

Our growing boy continues to do just that and has added more than two inches in height since his last appointment! On March 5th (his actual birthday) we went for his two year check up and well visit. Carter is in the 90th percentile for height and weight (previously 95th for both) and his head circumference was 20.5 inches which is still off the charts! He received his Hep A shot, a finger prick to check his iron levels, and his vision test. He passed all the screenings with flying colors and Ms. Kelly (our nurse practitioner) was thrilled to see how well spoken C is. She said he was definitely ahead in that area and he even managed to bust out some four word sentences so she could see how chatty he is (No thank you Daddy!). He was so well behaved during his vision screening and told nurse Amanda all the animals and their sounds and enjoyed wearing his “pirate patch” for the test. I was really proud of C because he did not flinch or even make a peep when they pricked his finger or gave him the shot in his leg. He just watched the nurses in amazement and sat perfectly still! We will go back again for a 30 month check up and well visit but other than that, no other shots until he is 4! Here’s hoping we don’t have to visit them in the meantime ;) We did find out that Carter still has an umbilical hernia (his belly button sticks out) and we'll have to keep monitoring it. It should have closed on its own around 12-18 months and might require surgery in the future if it doesn't heal. Thankfully it doesn't cause any issues and doesn't bother him so for now we'll just watch it and enjoy his little "outie" belly button.

After our checkup,we were supposed to meet friends Katie and Bennett for lunch but our appointment took so long that we had to reschedule. Thankfully, Linc was able to join us for a birthday lunch at Atlanta Bread Company before going back to work. C enjoyed a yummy grilled cheese and a smoothie before heading home for a long nap! It was a great start to the day!

Happy Birthday to Me!

After a full weekend of celebrating Carter’s second birthday, it was time for me to get in on some of the action ;) In case you’re new around here, we share the same birthday (March 5th)!!! On Sunday night after a delicious dinner of swordfish, salad, rice, and zucchini fries I opened a few presents and chowed down on some decadent cupcakes! Alex went all out with chocolate, ganache, chocolate chips, and white chocolate! Yum! My awesome parents gave me a jogging stroller, Ryan and Nathan gave me an iPod console to use with it, Kristin got me a beautiful hand stamped “C” silver necklace, and Alex picked out a gorgeous Pandora charm for my bracelet! I was definitely feeling the love and they all managed to spoil me and make me feel very special! Thanks everybody!!

Lucky Little Boy

present1

It’s no secret that Carter is spoiled rotten! His second birthday came with lots of special new goodies from our family and he was so excited to open his presents! He had already opened a new pirate ship sandbox from Bella and Bo-Bo and I can’t wait for it to get set up in the yard! Saturday night after the birthday party we celebrated at Hattie and Poppy’s house and C got to open the remainder of his gifts. We brought back all the presents from his birthday party and my family set up a great display for us when we walked in. I was so excited for him to see the tool bench from my parents and the balance bike from Aunt Kris and Uncle Ryan. Aunt Alex and Alan gave him an easel and all the supplies, and Baby Brigade birthday pick Bennett found him an awesome talking fire truck! While he was opening the packages Carter kept repeating, “What is it?” and happily ripped paper off every present (ok, he needed a little help). I’d say the kid made out like a bandit and we are so thankful for all these special new toys!

A Second Cake Smash

When it came time for the boys to eat their cakes, we decided to sing twice! Since it was Spencer's actual birthday the day of the party, he got to go first and the entire crowd cheered him on as he tried to blow out his candles. As soon as they finished, everyone serenaded Carter and I loved watching him sing along. Both boys let mommies and daddies help with the candles and then dug in head first to eat their delicious cakes! Eventually we gave them forks, but it was hilarious to watch since neither of them would touch the cake with their hands.

Simply A'-Blazing Birthday Party

425250_10100358884649411_33000913_44623275_1166362608_n

To say Spencer and Carter’s birthday party was perfect wouldn’t be a stretch! I was so happy with how everything turned out and hope Shari feels the same. It was so much fun being able to do this all together and every little detail went off without a hitch. We were blessed with a beautiful sunny day, lots of friends and family to celebrate with, yummy party food, and generous gifts for our two little men. The fire truck was a big hit, the chili bar was eaten clean, and all the babies left with their own fireman hats! Thanks again to everyone who helped with prep, all our friends and family for coming to celebrate, and the Gordon’s for opening up their beautiful home to all our guests! What a great birthday party!
