* Big Life Changes

At the end of 2013 Lincoln and I decided it was time to start looking for our forever house! Our little row house had been the perfect place to start our family but we were bursting at the seems and ready to have a little more space to spread out. I had been looking casually for almost two years, just keeping an eye on the market and watching different neighborhoods. I finally got him on board and it wasn’t even two weeks later we were putting an offer on a house! That house didn’t pan out and thank goodness the owners were too stubborn to negotiate because on Christmas Eve a house popped up that fit every single one of our must have items. Cul de sac lot, basement, great yard, privacy, enough bedrooms for us and guests…it was almost too good to be true!! We were the third people in the house within 24 hours and knew immediately that we wanted to put an offer in. The agent called for best and final and all three families submitted and crossed their fingers.

We got the call that the house was ours and immediately scheduled an inspection. The list came back a mile long and we weren’t sure we should go through with the deal. The house was 19 years old and the previous homeowners had neglected a lot of the maintenance. But after talking it over, weighing the pros and cons, taking almost our entire family through to survey the damage, we made the plunge and closed on our house at the end of January!

We put our house on the market and hoped for the best. We had three offers in three months and finally made it to the closing table in March! It was a stressful process but we know the lady who ended up with the house would take great care of it. It was the house we shared with roommates, started our family in, where both our babies were created, where we figured out life as a foursome. We were ready to say goodbye though and were so happy to close that chapter in our life and move on to the next!

* And the Snow Continues…

At the end of January, a snowfall of just over 2 inches shut down metropolitan Atlanta’s roads, schools, churches, government offices and businesses. Thousands of flights were cancelled at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. More than 2,000 school children were separated from their parents, and spent the night in buses, police stations, or classrooms. People who didn’t camp out in supermarket aisles and hotel lobbies were trapped in cars for 10, 16, 20 hours as they tried to make commutes that normally take just 30 minutes. Thank the good Lord above we were home, safe, with plenty of food in the fridge as it seemed the entire state would be shut down for weeks! We made the best of our time together and enjoyed play time in the snow and warm afternoons by the fire.
