Bumpdate- 16 Weeks

Well, technically I will be 17 weeks when this post goes live, but that’s ok! I tried to do a belly comparison like last time but there wasn’t enough noticeable change to post. I guess that’s a good thing! By this time in my pregnancy with Carter I already felt like a giant whale. This time around I have been feeling pretty awful so I think my weight gain has been slower. It was weird how the whole first trimester I was relatively unphased by the pregnancy. A few round ligament pains, the occasional morning sickness, and the need to pee eight thousand times a day were my only troubles. Then, as we rounded the second trimester, I started getting sick all day! Everything makes me nauseous and gaggy. I have even had to stop myself from throwing up in front of my boys at the dinner table. I call it “talking myself off the ledge” because I can usually get myself to stop before anything comes out. Not every time though, and it seems like brushing my teeth is still a huge trigger. I hate when I’ve already finished brushing my teeth and then get sick. That’s the worst! I want to love food because I feel hungry all the time, but everything that sounded good then looks or tastes disgusting. It’s a hard balance and I have been living on Cheerios and goldfish crackers. My midwife said baby h20 is still chugging right along though and had a healthy heart rate of 164bpm when we listened with the doppler last week. She seems to think relief will be right around the corner and I hope she’s right! Here’s my monthly belly photo!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How far along?  16 Weeks

Total weight gain/loss?  Up one pound since my twelve week check up (9 total).

Maternity clothes?  My amazing mommy surprised me with some summer maternity clothes and they are all gorgeous! I also got a suitcase full from my sister so hopefully I am stocked for warmer weather!

Stretch marks? Just the ones that showed up at 37 weeks pregnant with Carter. Also, my chest looks like it was attacked by a mountain lion. Cream or not, I’m pretty sure I’ll end up with a few more.

Sleep?  Some nights I make it through without having to wake up and others I have to get up to potty a few times. I catch myself sleeping flat on my back a lot which I know isn’t good, and I have even woken up on my stomach which I’m sure won’t be happening for too much longer! I need to get my snoogle back from my sister to help keep me in the correct position at night. Usually if I stay up until midnight, I can sleep straight through until Carter wakes up around 8:30 am!

Best moment last week? Going maternity shopping with my sweet mama.

Movement?  Baby h2o has fluttered a few times since my twelve week post! It is not often, but if I’m paying really close attention I can feel the faint tap, tap, tapping from inside. The first time I realized it, it felt like someone flicked me from the inside out!

Food cravings?  I hate food. Hate it! Anything that sounds good at the time ends up making me sick after the fact. I have had to stop myself from throwing up at the dinner table in front of Linc and C. Veggies are a no go (except salad), and even my beloved ice cream turns me off.

Gender? I think it’s a boy…Gender ultrasound is set for June 18th.

Labor signs? I had a facial on Mother’s Day and when the technician was extracting my nose I felt a single contraction! Totally freaked me out but nothing since. Stay put another 20 weeks or so baby!

Belly button in/out? Still an innie.

What I miss: Being able to enjoy meals! I would really love a good glass of cold white wine too.

What I am looking forward to: We have lots of fun activities this summer. A few trips planned, lots of awesome events with the Baby Brigade, and mixed doubles tennis begins soon. I am also playing women’s so I’m excited about lots of tennis over the next few months! I am also excited to see my baby belly in a bathing suit! Maybe being preggo during the hotter months will be a good thing because I won’t have to worry about sucking in my gut pool side all summer long ;)

Milestones: Feeling baby h2o flutter for the first time!

Splatters

007

We are trying to incorporate more fun outings for our play group this summer and last week on the calendar was Splatters! Unfortunately, only Krissy and I could make it that day but we made the best of it and the the boys paint some adorable coffee mugs! Afterward we' went next door to Mangia for some tasty pizza and then to Target to kill some time before naps. C was “finished” in record time and ran around the shop while Nicholas painted every inch of his cup! They were adorable and I can’t wait to pick them up next week. Thanks for coming with us Bignons. Next time it’s moms only!!!

Sunday Silence

And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ,

after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you

and make you strong, firm and steadfast. – 1 Peter 5:10 (NIV)

Very Hungry Caterpillar

Earlier in the week we met up with buddies Krissy and Nicholas for a Very Hungry Caterpillar craft day! Krissy went all out setting up some fun activities for our boys and even had homemade caterpillar shaped pizza for us! We started off letting the boys go wild with the water table and then headed to the deck for painting and crafting.

After searching for buried pirate treasure and running off some energy, the boys headed to the back deck for craft time. They painted toilet paper rolls to create caterpillars and had a little lesson in symmetry as we made paper butterflies. C was quick to finish and ran around the deck while N put the finishing touches on his masterpieces. After that was over, Miss Krissy gathered the boys in her lap for story time while our crafts dried!

Our last fun activity was decorating our very own caterpillar pizza! The boys used sauce, cheese, pepperoni, and green peppers to make one pizza for the mommies and a caterpillar shaped one for themselves. It was so delicious paired with grapes (for the boys) and a yummy salad (for the mommies) and we left full and very tired! Thanks for such a fun day K&N, can’t wait to do it again!

C’s Sandbox

For the longest time (up until the last month or so) Carter hated sand!!! He didn’t want to touch it, be near it, play with it, anything. One day, a few weeks ago, our friends invited us to a giant covered sandbox and even though I didn’t think it would be successful, we went to play. Carter surprised us all by getting right in and playing alongside his buddies for over an hour! He loved using the shovels, rakes, and dump trucks and I was so proud of my little man for overcoming one of his oddities! hehehe Carter’s grandparents had given him a sandbox for his second birthday and we finally got around to building it since he now enjoys digging around.

C still won’t get in the box and wipes his hands off immediately

if they get sandy, but he loves his pirate sandbox!

Thanks Bella and Bo-Bo! Can’t wait to dig with you!
