Well, technically I will be 17 weeks when this post goes live, but that’s ok! I tried to do a belly comparison like last time but there wasn’t enough noticeable change to post. I guess that’s a good thing! By this time in my pregnancy with Carter I already felt like a giant whale. This time around I have been feeling pretty awful so I think my weight gain has been slower. It was weird how the whole first trimester I was relatively unphased by the pregnancy. A few round ligament pains, the occasional morning sickness, and the need to pee eight thousand times a day were my only troubles. Then, as we rounded the second trimester, I started getting sick all day! Everything makes me nauseous and gaggy. I have even had to stop myself from throwing up in front of my boys at the dinner table. I call it “talking myself off the ledge” because I can usually get myself to stop before anything comes out. Not every time though, and it seems like brushing my teeth is still a huge trigger. I hate when I’ve already finished brushing my teeth and then get sick. That’s the worst! I want to love food because I feel hungry all the time, but everything that sounded good then looks or tastes disgusting. It’s a hard balance and I have been living on Cheerios and goldfish crackers. My midwife said baby h20 is still chugging right along though and had a healthy heart rate of 164bpm when we listened with the doppler last week. She seems to think relief will be right around the corner and I hope she’s right! Here’s my monthly belly photo!

How far along? 16 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss? Up one pound since my twelve week check up (9 total).
Maternity clothes? My amazing mommy surprised me with some summer maternity clothes and they are all gorgeous! I also got a suitcase full from my sister so hopefully I am stocked for warmer weather!
Stretch marks? Just the ones that showed up at 37 weeks pregnant with Carter. Also, my chest looks like it was attacked by a mountain lion. Cream or not, I’m pretty sure I’ll end up with a few more.
Sleep? Some nights I make it through without having to wake up and others I have to get up to potty a few times. I catch myself sleeping flat on my back a lot which I know isn’t good, and I have even woken up on my stomach which I’m sure won’t be happening for too much longer! I need to get my snoogle back from my sister to help keep me in the correct position at night. Usually if I stay up until midnight, I can sleep straight through until Carter wakes up around 8:30 am!
Best moment last week? Going maternity shopping with my sweet mama.
Movement? Baby h2o has fluttered a few times since my twelve week post! It is not often, but if I’m paying really close attention I can feel the faint tap, tap, tapping from inside. The first time I realized it, it felt like someone flicked me from the inside out!
Food cravings? I hate food. Hate it! Anything that sounds good at the time ends up making me sick after the fact. I have had to stop myself from throwing up at the dinner table in front of Linc and C. Veggies are a no go (except salad), and even my beloved ice cream turns me off.
Gender? I think it’s a boy…Gender ultrasound is set for June 18th.
Labor signs? I had a facial on Mother’s Day and when the technician was extracting my nose I felt a single contraction! Totally freaked me out but nothing since. Stay put another 20 weeks or so baby!
Belly button in/out? Still an innie.
What I miss: Being able to enjoy meals! I would really love a good glass of cold white wine too.
What I am looking forward to: We have lots of fun activities this summer. A few trips planned, lots of awesome events with the Baby Brigade, and mixed doubles tennis begins soon. I am also playing women’s so I’m excited about lots of tennis over the next few months! I am also excited to see my baby belly in a bathing suit! Maybe being preggo during the hotter months will be a good thing because I won’t have to worry about sucking in my gut pool side all summer long ;)
Milestones: Feeling baby h2o flutter for the first time!
